What Is Breathwork?

Breath-work is a technique that uses your own breathing patterns to achieve a somewhat altered state.

Here's a link to a really good explanation from Goop.

When I went to my first UPW, we had Wim Hoff do an exercise with us teaching us the Wim Hoff Method of breathing.

Here is what I love about things like this, they are free and you can do them at home.

How To Do It?

Now, before Cov-id 19 came along, I did attend a breath-work session with a small group of people.

We had a group of about 11 and we split up into pairs, (with one extra).

You had a sitter and then the person who was doing the exercise.

The time line? 3 hours each...whoa! Instantly my "tiny mind" as my coach Mariola says it, was like, "3 fucking hours each?". I couldn't believe I was going to have sit still for that long and basically watch my partner to make sure she was good. And there it was, I found the piece my tiny mind was missing. I was there to serve, and that's what I did. For 3 hours I sat and felt the whole rooms energy. I grabbed my journal and feverishly wrote anything that came to me. I watched in silence when others were going through their own journeys, it was really special.

Then it was my turn.

I had done Wim Hoff before, so this was not totally foreign to me, but this was a much smaller group and not at a UPW (Unleash The Power Within). I was pretty excited!

I lay down on the mat, put my eye mask on, and get under my blanket. All these items were my own so I was really cozy and comfortable:).

Then the music begins. I have a playlist that I use for my at home sessions here

I had just been through an emotional experience watching and writing, so I was really excited to see what my journey was going to bring up.

My own breathing pattern is 4-7-8. Breath in for 4 counts, hold for 7, let it go for 8. I do this over and over again until I naturally want to stop...maybe 10 rounds or so. Make sure you're laying down please;).

Part of Breath-works is aimed at bringing up things that your subconscious is holding onto. This is why it's important to really understand what you're practicing and having support the first time you do it. Since I feel very confident in my level of awareness, I know I am safe to do this practice alone.

When I started to feel the music, I began to smile my face off, so much so that my 'sitter' said, "You were smiling so much"... and why?

I was smiling because I had an overwhelming sense of peace and gratitude in that moment. I was dancing in a desert with a flowy dress on just loving every second of it all. I was in Goddess mode times a million.

The music helps take you where you need to go and boy did it. It was pure magic. I felt super connected to Source and I was in my bliss.

It was time to 'come back'.

When I sat up and looked around, I would have bet all the money I have made in the last 6 years on the fact that it was about a 45 minute session. I was wrong, I was in it for the same 3 hours as my partner was...how could that be?

I was on a journey and time just didn't feel the same as it normally does, I loved it.

When we were done, we talked about our experiences and it was really really cool to see what came up for people.

I shared my intense gratitude for the others holding space for me and off I went.

So now, I do my own breathworks at home on Sunday mornings.

I'm addicted, after all, my inner goddess comes out in full effect during these sessions and I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

I have shared this with some of you, but I will say it here too.

During this time, I am alone and have full privacy from the family.

I put my headphones and eye mask on and just let go.

There have been a couple of times where I actually have had an inner body orgasm.

Like no touching or anything, just my imagination and breath. Crazy right? (I can't promise you will have one, but it's fun to try;)).

So now this is part of my rituals. I encourage you to look it up online. Here (I haven't done this one, but hear it's amazing) is a resource from one of our goddesses Katie Carlson who was on the podcast recently, you can listen to the episode here.

Ok my lovelies, I hope I brought you massive value in deepening your connection to your Divine Feminine, this is one of my favorite things to do, let me know how it goes!
